Bath and beauty blog Blueberries body care clean Natural Scrub vegan

Try this handmade Blueberry body scrub for your next self care Sunday, Saturday or any day you want to feel pampered!  And per usual... when your done using it...you can actually eat the left overs and it's good.  Why Not?

Blueberries are a great substitution for chemicals in a lot of skin body and hair care products.  Here are some convincing reasons why you just might want to add Blueberries to you beauty regimen...

Blueberries help fight the signs of aging.  They are rich in antioxidants, vitamin A, and C as well as flavanoids.  According to Lifescience.com, Flavonoids are a diverse group of phytonutrients (plant chemicals) found in almost all fruits and vegetables... they are responsible for the vivid colors in fruits and vegetables. ... Like other phytonutrients, flavonoids are powerful antioxidants with anti-inflammatory and immune system benefits.

Blueberries are also known to prevent and cure acne.  Blueberries contain a high concentration of salicylates (salt of salicylic acid) used in topical acne products.  Blueberries also can remove dead skin, open clogged pores and is considered antibacterial.

Is that enough reason for you to try this out...?

For use you will need the following:

1/4c Blueberries fresh or freeze dried

2- TBSP Melted Coconut Oil cooled (you can use Olive Oil but increase the sugar)

3/4-1 C- Sugar of choice (but for aesthetics use white)

1 TBSP Honey, Maple Syrup or Coconut Palm Nectar

and if you want to get fancy...lemon

A clean sanitized container of your choice with lid.

Step One:

Mash Blueberries, honey and melted coconut oil together until smooth.

Step Two:

Add sugar until you get the desired consistency.  Remember, the scrub will solidify at room temperature due to the coconut oil. But this scrub will be less liquidy (I know that's not a real word..lol!)

Step Three:

Mix together and either use right away.  This can be used on your face, your lips, and your body.  Use in the shower, rinse and pat dry.  Use moisturizer if needed.

This can be used one to two times per week.

This simple scrub can last for about two weeks and keep refrigerated.
